During three quarters of this year JSC "Swedbank" in Latvia, including insurance business, has earned 57 million lats. The bank`s profit during the third quarter comprised 23 million lats compared to 15 million during the corresponding period last year.
The amount of newly granted funding by "Swedbank" during the third quarter grew up to 118 million lats, 99 million of which were granted to companies, but 19 million – to private individuals. Last quarter growing demand for a new funding was observed in such sectors as transport and agriculture.
The amount of clients` deposits in the third quarter grew by 23% compared to the respective period last year. The amount of private persons` deposits in terms of a year grew by 27%, but corporate deposits – by 17%.
In general a decrease of specific weight of cash and increase of bank account balance is observed in the Latvian economy. This might be due to activities of residents, who diminish the amount of cash in their everyday life in order to facilitate the conversion to the euro.
